Quote-tastic/Review-- Explosive Forces (K-9 Rescue #5) by D.D. Ayres

Aaaad today's Quote-tastic is from DD Ayres. She's a fairly new to me author--she's actually joining us later this week for AFTH--and yall I'm having a blast with her books. Sexy heroes, working dogs, fierce heroines. They have some really funny bits, too.

Okay so this first one. It's a rom-suspense and you know, dead bodies popping up here or there. I loved the heroine's response. That would so be me. lol

"Ooh. Ooh. Dead body." She began backpedaling toward the door. The body shivered. And then it moaned.

"Okay, so maybe not dead. Just mostly dead." Carly slapped a hand across her mouth to stop a bubble of nervous laughter.
And this just killed me since I'm a vegetarian. The number of pervy meat comments you get. ::snort::
He waggled his brows at her. "Want to play Hide the Salami?"

"Vegetarian, remember?"

"Hide the Banana?"
And one more. lol So this series features heroes/heroines but also canines who are just fantastic characters on their own. They're all working dogs and have such funny personalities. This pup...well he failed in one job but got placed in another. He's now an arson/explosives dog.
"He was kicked out of the guide-dogs-for-the-blind program after he ate a burger off the plate of a blind man during his probation period."

Carly burst into laughter before she could slap a hand over her mouth. "Are you serious?"

He grinned back. "Yep." He reached down to pet his partner.

Explosive Forces (K-9 Rescue #5)

Action packed, scorching hot, and cute canines to boot! I'm loving this series from DD Ayres.

So, Carly's life? It's just gone up in flames. Literally. Her store catches on fire and there's one man to blame...the one she rescued from the store next door. The one everyone thinks is behind that very fire. After meeting him, though, something's not adding up and she's quickly pulled into his life and search for the person trying to frame him for arson.

Carly's fiery, sassy, a vegetarian* (woohoo!) and goes after what she wants. She's also a new business owner and trying to help others get ahead in life. And the hero? Noah's all sexy alpha male with a canine partner-- who was so freaking cute! He's a single daddy, good at his job, and just all around yummy.

The chemistry between them was incredible. There was just something between them that set all their little lusty bits to blazing. lol It's pretty much an insta-love/lust/like but it somehow managed to not feel that way. Pretty impressive, I think.

Explosive Forces landed a bit more on the suspense side of things and was lighter on the romance but oh I enjoyed it and watching these to try to figure out who was being framing him for arson and attempted suicide. I do wish there'd been just a bit more of the two together romance-wise as well as him with his son (I love those single daddies) but it was a good time none the less and definitely had me invested. I read this sucker in less than 24 hours and lately it's been taking me 4-5 days for similar length books. So... Ayres definitely had me hooked and loving it.

**one note to authors writing vegetarians... McDonald's french fries aren't vegetarian friendly. Total sadness but, yeah, they're coated in meat broth. *sigh* The vegetarian in me was devastated by this news. lol #FryAddict #SayItAintSo
When Carly Reese’s beloved fashion boutique catches fire, she sees her dreams go up in smoke. The good news is that Carly was saved from the flames by a barking dog nearby. She soon discovers the heroic pooch is a trained K-9 who’s guarding his unconscious partner …a gorgeous firefighter who ends up in Carly’s arms.

Noah Glover and his K-9 are a fearless duo, and Noah has clearly met his match with the brave, beautiful Carly. Soon they team up to track down the arsonist behind the blast – a psychotic criminal who’s intent on framing Noah. Meanwhile, the sparks between Noah and and Carly could ignite a five-alarm fire. Should they smother their feelings in the name of justice…or fan the flames of passion?
