18 & Over Book Blogger Follow is a weekly feature that begins on Fridays and runs through the weekend, hosted by Crystal from Reading Between the Wines. This is a Friday blog hop with the objective to find and visit other book blogs that share the same interest as you, namely books geared towards the 18 & over crowd, and make some new friends!
Question of the Week
Oh! First thought Sabrina Jeffries. I don't know why she popped in before anyone else but I absolutely adore the woman. I've loved everything I've read from her and it's totally selfish on my part but I'd love to get my hands on her books sooner :) Or Jill Shalvis. Ooo or JD Robb. Laura Kaye. Jaci Burton. Or Maya Banks. Oh oh Sherrilyn Kenyon. Hell, I'm greedy and I want them all!!
Really though? And I shudder just mentioning it on the blog but I'd go with E.L. James. She's the Lindsay Lohan/Brittany Spears of the writing world for me. Just like with them and their craziness every time I hear about her books all I can think is does this woman not have anyone in her life that actually cares about her enough to give her honest advice and criticism? And yeah I know her books have sold like hotcakes and she's made a mint off them but damn the writing is just...rough. So I'd go with her and maybe feel like I was doing a good deed for the world.
Who would you want to be a beta reader for?
I'd have to say Lorraine Heath or Laurann Dohner. They're miles apart genre-wise, but no one does the 'tortured hero' quite like those ladies. And I. Love. It :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read either of those ladies but I do love a tortured hero. Sounds like I need to hunt down copies of their books!
DeleteHeath's Scoundrels of St James and Lost Lords of Pembrook series (Historical romance) are so awesome! Laurann Dohner does Fantasy Erotic Romance. Her New Species series (usually compared to Lora Leigh's Breed) are pretty popular now. They're yummy reads :)
DeleteLove a good historical romance and have enjoyed Lora Leigh's Breeds series. So sounds like they're right up my alley. Just added both to the shopping list :) Thank ya!
DeleteOMG, there are too many to name, but actually I am currently beta reading a book for Alexa Grace and I love it. I would love to do more. Of course, when the book comes out I will be furious with myself when I see something I missed. :)
ReplyDeleteOh very neat Rhonda! I've never actually beta read a book but it sounds like fun :) And yeah I can so see catching an error after it comes out. That would so make me twitch!
DeleteHope you have a great weekend!
Love your choice Anna & the way you so lovingly put it ;) I haven't even read 50 Shades yet & I'm not sure I want to (I have the books too).
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend ;)
lol. I swear I'm a nice girl :)
DeleteOy. And yeah the book so get's an oy. It's my second ever DNF. I thought I had 10 pages left and then realized it was 100 pages left. I nearly cried and gave up. Took me nearly 3 weeks to get 200 pages read. I ended up cleaning the kitchen instead of reading multiple times.
I LOVE your EL James answer, too funny! I haven't read the books and am not planning on it. Although everyone wants to shove them down my throat. hehe

Books, Shopping & Rock N' Roll
::shudder:: Definitely not worth the time/money. I won copies in a giveaway and figured I'd try them so I could join in on discussions. It did not go well... ;)
DeleteHappy weekend Amanda!
Karen Ranney or Sue-Ellen Welfonder/Allie MacKay. I think the world of these two women not only as writers but for who they are as women.
ReplyDeleteI've not read either of them but it would definitely be great to work for someone you respected outside of their writing as well!
Deletei would like to beta read for linda howard, sandra brown, nora roberts/jd robb, lisa kleypas, eloisa james, and many more.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be great? I'd love to beta for JDRobb. Those books don't come out nearly quick enough :) I've heard a lot of good things about Linda Howard! One day I'll make it to her :)
DeleteI recently had the opportunity to beta read for a new author. It was the first time I'd done it and I really enjoyed it. (And the book was awesome too. I'll be pimping it soon!) If I could beta read for any author I would pick Pamela Clare, Lori Foster, Linda Howard or J.R. Ward. When I did my beta read I was able to read the whole book at one time. I think that some authors give their beta readers the chapters as they complete them. I'm not sure about that but something I read once made me think that that was how it worked. Or maybe there is no certain way to do it and all authors have their own way. I'm not sure if I would be able to do it if I had to wait for the chapters. I think I might go insane waiting for the next chapter. LOL
ReplyDeleteVery neat! Glad you had a good experience with it :) I'm with you I don't know if I could do the chapter at a time way. I would drive me crazy waiting. I've seen authors do it all kinds of ways. Full books, chapters or chunks at a time (like 1/2 the book or so).
DeleteI don't think I've read anything from Sabrina Jeffries but Laura Kaye, Jaci Burton, Maya Banks, Sherrilyn Kenyon...yes, yes, yes! lol Remember those old Herbal Essence commercials? I totally just did that. lol
ReplyDeleteEL James, yes. Now, I loved 50 but I would have so had my editor cap on for that one. Great picks and thanks for joining in the follow!
If you like historicals Jeffries is amazing. She's one of my favorites I found this year thanks to a friend. Excellent heroines that hold their own and some damn fine men.
DeleteHope you're having a great week Crystal!
