The Gist: Luke's an outlaw trying to go straight but before he can accept being part of his newfound family he's got it in his head he needs to right all his past wrongs and, well, clear his name for a murder he didn't commit. And in the process of driving his family crazy with "I can do it myself" stubbornness he picks up a woman who's lost her memory, a kid, a dog and a kitten. And a whole herd of trouble hounding his heels.I liked Luke and Josie. They're both a little wild. They're both a little stubborn. And dangerous in their own ways. Luke's done some questionable things in his days but mostly with good reason so it was hard not to like him. And hurt for him over the fact he didn't feel he was good enough for anyone--to be a part of his family or a part of someone's future.
"Why do you three keep trying to save me?" Luke asked. And Josie. The girl's got grit. She'd been kidnapped and lost her memory but didn't fall totally to pieces. Nope. She bucked it up and went full force into figuring things out.
"Because you're ours." Houston shrugged.
I liked them together, too. It's more of a slow burn but it's sweet seeing them fall and mending each others hurt bits. Bits of humor and romance woven into their uphill battle as they tried to avoid the law-- yup, they're both wanted-- and figure out who she really was
There were a couple consistency issues but they weren't too bad. All in all, I'm enjoying Broday. The books are a little slower paced even with danger and action twined into the storyline but I like that. It suits the couple, their journey and time.
Outlaw Luke Weston survives by his wits. On the run for a murder he didn't commit, the last thing he needs is to go looking for more trouble. But when Luke stumbles across a fiercely beautiful woman struggling against two heavily armed men, it's obvious that trouble has found him.
After all, he never could resist a damsel in distress.
Josie Morgan's distressed, all right—and hopping mad. She has no idea why she's been kidnapped...or who she is...or why her body melts for the mysterious gunslinger who saved her life. But as the lost memories come tumbling back together, Josie is faced with the stark reality of why she and Luke can never be...even as her heart is telling her she will always be his.
