Ahhhh so many quotes. Yall I had a good time with these two and their families. I couldn't resist including all these bits.
First the hero and his sister. Gave me a good laugh because I am totally in agreement with the sister. That is a big ol nope.
Jamie laughed . “Haven’t you heard? A great many ranchers manage to find wives. Running a ranch hardly precludes getting married.”“All right,” he returned. “When are you getting hitched?”“When pigs fly over a frozen hellscape.”“I figured as much,” he said. “So maybe stop trying to marry me off.”
And, okay, I'm maybe with the heroine on this. Nature...noope! But maybe if I had that incentive I might cave, too. lol
“Okay,” she relented. “I will come over in two days and I will do that… hiking trail.” The word hiking made her look pained.“I really must be good in bed,” he said.“You are. Seriously. Otherwise I would not be… hiking.” She twisted her lips to the side in a grimace.
Aaaand one more. The hero really has a mouth on him and I enjoyed it. He likes teasing her and is surely good at getting a reaction.
“It’s like riding a bike,”he said. “I assume. I’ve never gone a significant amount of time without being on the back of a horse. Also, I imagine you’re a hell of a lot more saddle sore than you are when you pick up bike riding after a good number of years.”She huffed out a laugh. “Good to know. I look forward to the screaming muscles. And as I limp around the house, I’ll remember that you’re the reason I can barely walk.”He thought about letting the moment pass by. But then, he thought no. He was going to take it. “Honey, you are not the first woman to say that to me.” He couldn’t see her face, but if stiffness was something you could feel in the air, he was certain he felt it now.“You’re disgusting,”she said.“That is not the general consensus.”
Yates and cowboys. My happy place. Good Time Cowboy was full of cowboy goodness.
The Gist: Lindy and Wyatt. Well they drive each other crazy. But they've recently tied their businesses together for a promotion-- she owns a winery, he owns a neighboring dude ranch-- so they're having to suck it up and deal with each other. And the damn pesky attraction that's always simmered below the surface.
Lindy and Wyatt. Whewboy! They're a handful but I enjoyed them quite a bit. They're both stubborn and crave control. Are hard working, determined, will do anything for their families. They both hide deep insecurities-- her with a prim buttoned up persona, him with a devil may care attitude as if nothing phases him. They were just so suited for each other.
It was fun watching them work on a big business event. Having to see each other. Play nice. Tease and frustrate each other. And discover some inner layers they weren't exactly expecting or sure how to handle. All that tension sure heated things up nicely, too!
Add in a little family, a wonderful community of friends and a lovely setting and it made for a real nice read. It took me a little time to get into Good Time Cowboy (likely on me) but once it snagged me...it snagged me good.
*I am finding it a bit aggravating with this series that the "books" end around 75% so that a previously released novella can be included in print.
When Lindy Parker lost her cheating husband, she gained a vineyard. She’ll do anything for Grassroots Winery, including teaming up with the hottest devil she knows, rancher Wyatt Dodge. Wyatt is her ex’s friend and has an ego as big as the bulls he rides. But in spite of that, disciplined Lindy has always wanted him…
Lightning struck Wyatt Dodge the first time he saw Lindy Parker. But there were two problems with that: she was married to his friend, and Wyatt doesn’t do strings. But now Lindy is free, and the two of them can finally explore the heat that’s burned between them for so long. But can Lindy make this good time cowboy decide on forever?
