4 stars-- Revenant (Lords of Deliverance #6) by Larissa Ione

Note: I accidentally deleted 6 months of the blog so this is a repost. All comments on the original posts were unfortunately lost. Sorry!

Ah man. I forgot how much I love Ione's books! It's been ages since I read from this series but I finally got myself together to read Revenant and damn. Just damn. Action packed and doesn't hold any punches. Lordy but it was good.
The Gist: Well. Blaspheme and Revenant. Their lives are...complicated. Being hunted by angels, dealing with Satan, families that'd make you wanna poke someone's eye out, damn inconvenient lusty thoughts about each other. Yeah. Life is more than a little bit messy. Even more so when they realize they're the ones who have to stop the big bad...somehow.

I really liked Blaspheme and Revenant. They're both so blasted damaged. They've had hard lives and have had to keep major parts of themselves hidden in different ways. They both have tremendous strength, vulnerability, daily struggles. It's hard not to hurt for them. And root for them. Even if she's a false angel hunted by both heaven and hell and he's, well, the second most powerful being in hell. lol Yeah. They're an interesting pair that's for sure.
"Well?" she prompted. "Are you pissed?"

He shrugged. "Will saying yes get me laid?"

"Not by me," she said.

"What if I say no?"

"Same thing."

"Disappointing."

Blaspheme rolled her eyes.
I did enjoy them as a couple. They're both forces to be reckoned with and man they give each other a run for their money. They have a great dynamic and boy do they heat things up when they finally get together. There's also some incredibly sweet and unexpected moments.

The action is pretty much non stop and gah it can get gory as the lines between good and evil are blurred. As prophesies are carried out and dark plots uncovered. It keeps you on your toes for sure.

All in all, Revenant made me remember why I fell for this series. It's a fascinating world with incredible characters, struggles and triumphs that keep a girl absolutely riveted.
For five thousand years, Revenant believed he was alone in the world, a fallen angel beyond any redemption. Now he finds he has a twin brother who had all the light and love Revenant was denied. Caught in a tug of war between Heaven and Hell, he must weigh his thirst for revenge against his desire for a mysterious female named Blaspheme—a female whose very origins could deliver him into salvation . . . or destruction.

Blaspheme has a deadly secret: she's the forbidden offspring of an angel and a fallen angel. Hunted by both heavenly and satanic forces, she has survived only by laying low and trusting no one. When Revenant claims he can save them both, how can she possibly believe him? But the powerful angel is persistence incarnate and for Blaspheme, there's no place she can hide in Heaven or Hell where he won't find her . .
