#AFTH2014 w/ Christina Lee- those oh so heated moments... + giveaway

Eep! Yall today Christina Lee is with us. She's one of the authors I read for the first time this year and that absolutely blew me away. Every one was incredible and as the series has progressed I've fallen more and more with her writing. Her last--Promise Me This--got a Pick of the Litter rating which is a 5 star and yall know I am stingy as all get out with those. But goodness it was amazing. Anywho. She's here to heat things up a little today. Yups! Check out her post and leave her some comment love!  Anna

I’ve been dubbed “the queen of sexual tension” by some readers, so it might not surprise you that my favorite parts to write and read in romance novels have to do with the tension and build up. All of the swoon, the melting, and the butterflies in the tummy.

Even if the characters jump into bed in the first chapter, we still have the rest of the book to work through, and something will inevitably happen to pull them apart.

So they’re going to find themselves back there again, to the intense build up, where you can feel the electricity crackling between them. And as a reader you’re just holding your breath, waiting and hoping, and flipping the damn pages…

So my three favorite moments to write and read are:
1. The eyes have it. Oh, those long and lingering looks across the room at one another. You can see and feel all the passion, longing, and need.
2. The almost touch. The characters are near one another and it’s like there’s this invisible rope tethering them together. Or, they accidentally brush and their skin is buzzing and humming with energy.

3. The anticipation before the kiss. The hands sliding up the back, gripping the waist, grazing over the neck, cupping the face. The lips brush for a barely there moment—close, but not close enough. Not yet.

Yep, all of that. MEOW! :)

And since we all know Anna is a lover of felines, here are three fictional cats who--using the advice above--might make great heroes/heroines in a romance novel:
--Penelope Pussycat from Looney Tunes. If she’d finally give in to Pepe’ Le Pew’s advances, they might have one great night of sexy time. Right?
--Tomcat from Tom and Jerry. You rarely hear his voice except when he’s wooing the ladies. Like that episode when he serenades a female cat with “Is You or Is You Ain’t My Baby”. He’s the strong and silent and er, goofy type. At least he’d make you laugh.

--Puss in Boots, from Shrek. Sure he’s a trickster but he’s charming, resilient, he’s got a fine ‘stache, and who can resist that swoony Antonio Banderas accent? Plus that large feather in his cap might prove handy in the bedroom.

Nate has developed quite a playboy reputation around campus. It's not that he doesn't respect or trust women; he doesn't trust himself. The men in Nate’s family are prone to abusive behavior—a dirty secret that Nate’s been running from his entire life—so Nate doesn't do relationships. But he can’t help himself around one girl…

Jessie is strong, independent, and works at a tattoo parlor. Nate can’t resist getting close to her, even if it’s strictly a friendship. But it doesn't take long for Nate to admit that what he wants with Jessie is more than just friendly.

With Jessie, he can be himself and explore what he’s always felt was a terrifying darkness inside him. Even when Nate begins to crave her in a way that both shocks and horrifies him, Jessie still wants to know every part of him. Testing their boundaries together will take a trust that could render them inseparable… or tear them apart.

❆❆❆❆❆❆❆❆
Once upon a time, I lived in New York City and was a fashion stylist. I spent my days shopping for photo shoots, getting into cabs, eating amazing food, and drinking coffee at my favorite hangouts.

Now I live in the Midwest with my husband and son—my two favorite guys. I've been a clinical social worker and a special education teacher. But it wasn't until I wrote a weekly column for the local newspaper that I realized I could turn the fairytales inside my head into the reality of writing fiction.

I'm addicted to lip gloss and salted caramel everything. I believes in true love and kissing, so writing romance novels has become a dream job.
