4 stars-- Samson's Lovely Mortal (Scanguards Vampires #1) by Tina Folsom

"From romance to humor and a touch of suspense Folsom put together a delightful and entertaining read that had me chuckling and fanning myself as these two fell in love." ~herding cats & burning soup

Samson's Lovely Mortal turned out to be a delightful surprise! It also has one of my all time favorite opening lines..."Let me suck your cock." Bwaha. Yes, Samson and Delilah entertained me from the start with a case of mistaken identity and Samson thinking the lovely Delilah was, well, a hooker sent by his friends to help him with a, erm, hydraulics issue he was having with his manly bits. And the fun continued from there as they discover her life is at risk and Samson steps in to keep her safe.

So why this one was such a surprise. I was really expecting a darker more serious book based on the cover but this one turned out to be rather funny and cheeky. And I loved that!

Samson and Delilah were both great characters. Samson was kind of a riot. The guy was really having a rough go not being able to get his dangly bits to cooperate with him and rise to the ocassion. You just never see a big, strong, sexy alpha male hero having those issues. He's a little grouchy and a little, hrm, frustrated but a great hero. And Delilah was a fun heroine even with a TSTL moment and being just the worst..trash..talker...ever. I so don't know if it was intentional or not but she goes at it in this one scene and it has me freaking rolling it was so funny watching her try to be a badass. I had a good hoot over it.

The romance between them was fun and steamy...if a little feisty. I loved all of the hot and heavy moments. Whew! They had great chemistry and with some drama now and again were just fun to watch together. It was a good time as he did his best to hide his vampirism and the two tried to figure out exactly who was behind the attacks coming her way.

All in all, from romance to humor and a touch of suspense Folsom put together a delightful and entertaining read that had me chuckling and fanning myself as these two fell in love. With just enough of each of the secondary characters to peak my interest I'm seriously anticipating the rest of the series and seeing what will happen next.

*this is a throwback review. I read it like 4 years ago and the poor review has been languishing in my drafts folder ever since. Oops!
Vampire bachelor Samson can't get it up anymore. Not even his shrink can help him. That changes when the lovely mortal auditor Delilah tumbles into his arms after a seemingly random attack. Suddenly there's nothing wrong with his hydraulics - that is, as long as Delilah is the woman in his arms.

His scruples about taking Delilah to bed vanish when his shrink suggests it's the only way to cure his problem. Thinking all he needs is one night with her, Samson indulges in a night of pleasure and passion.

However, another attack on Delilah and a dead body later, and Samson has his hands full: not only with trying to hide the fact he's a vampire, but also with finding out what secrets Delilah harbors for somebody to want her harm.
