4 stars-- Wait For It (Everything I Left Unsaid #4) by Molly O'Keefe

Wait for It was dark, edgy and downright compelling.

Okay so the quick and dirty. Tiffany was married to Blake's brother who was an abusive asshole. And now she's in a panicked escape from said asshole and Blake is determined to help her out. Not only to clean up his brothers mess-- yet again-- but to fix something he did to her in the past, too.

So, yes, it's messy. A little dark and gritty and not your typical romance or couple at all. For a long while these two are all about the financial transaction. He wants her time...and he'll pay for it. He wants her body...and he'll pay for it. And she accepts because she needs it just as much as he does. It's a spot twisted and unhealthy but really so are they for a while. It was interesting seeing both of them deal with this strange dynamic they created between them and watching them both heal and realize how fucked up they were and slowly start to change both that and how they dealt with his brother.
"Don't."

"Don't tell you you're beautiful?"

"No. Don't lie. It's a rule. Like kissing and touching. We can't lie to each other."

He nodded. "All right. No lying. You're beautiful."
They were crazy hot together, though. There's an undeniable sizzle that just makes you catch your breath every time they're together. No matter the interaction there was a fire between them.

This was a romance I wasn't sure would work. If they could get past their hang ups and things from the past. If they could break out of the boxes they put each other into and the damage they caused. But bit by bit they pulled me along for a crazy ride and made me a believer.

In the end, the transformation that these two went through was remarkable. I really wasn't sure there would be a happily ever after for them or if they could get past the damage his brother caused and how they'd treated each other early on but, gah, when things fell into place it was good and deliciously satisfying.

And because even with the dark tones there was some funny...
"This is really your gym?" I asked again.

"Really my gym."

"You didn't like... bring me here to kill me."

"Why would I kill you here?"

"Because it's creepy?"

"There are too many stairs. It's not very convenient."

"Good point. I'm totally relieved."

Tiffany : After fighting for a new life, I don’t want to play the victim anymore. However, with three kids to raise, I’m getting desperate enough to make a deal with the devil. My estranged brother-in-law, Blake, says he just wants to help, but he’s been trouble since I met him. I don’t know if I can believe this kinder, gentler Blake, and there’s a friction between us that has turned into the sweetest chemistry. He could be my salvation . . . or my downfall.

Blake : I haven’t always had Tiffany’s best interests at heart but I’m ready to make up for my sins. Besides, I can’t help admiring her: The girl’s a genuine survivor, tough and lean, with eyes of steel. But the more I get to know Tiffany, the more I want her. Every inch of her. Which means I’m about to make a bad situation a hell of a lot worse.
