After twelve years in the league, all Zach Murphy wants is a Super Bowl ring. He’s been about hard hits not smooth manners, about breaking quarterbacks not making small talk at cocktail parties. But now he’s shattered something else. After dumping a tray of drinks on the team owner’s snooty daughter and accidentally feeling up the Governor’s wife, his tenure with his team looks perilously short. And things are getting worse.
Life is looking up for Kelsie Carrington-Richmond. A onetime beauty pageant star and mean girl, she only recently stopped living out of her car. But both those times have passed. Her Finishing School for Real Men has a real shot, and the Seattle Lumberjacks have hired her to polish up their roughest player. Except…it’s Zach. Long ago she broke his heart. He’s just the beast she remembers—gruff, protective—but she’s nothing like the beauty from his past.
Yet, getting knocked down happens, and getting back up makes a contender. And they both have the hearts of champions.
I’d love a strawberry one.
Essentially we have a Beauty and the Beast story here, and the beauty never quite tames the beast, but she does win him over.
Mmm love stories like that. A little wildness is always fun. Can you tell us 3 fun behind the scenes facts about the Seattle Lumberjacks series? Think Pop-Up video style.
- Wait until Book 6. Tyler Harris is going to get his when it comes to his marriage phobia.
- Bruiser Mackey prefers commando even though he advertises men’s underwear. *niiiice*
- Tyler’s tabby cat has the asshole quarterback wrapped around his furry paw.
He’d done it again. Screwed up in a social situation and dragged the whole team down with him. His new team. The ones who were counting on him to be a leader on and off the field. He’d led them, all right, almost into a brawl.—Zach Murphy, Down by Contact
Bruiser stared in the mirror hanging in his locker and ran a comb through his blond hair, wishing he had dark hair like Harris, or a mean look like Zach, or even a guy-next-door like Derek. Hell no, he looked like a fucking movie star and he fucking hated it. –-Backfield in Motion
"You should get married. That shows stability." All heads turned to Zach. Marriage-phobic Harris had the same horrified expression Bruiser suspected was on his own face.—Backfield in MotionLOL that last one made me snort. Love em. Okay, so I know it's kinda weird but I go all reader girl squealy over a good sports romance but I so don't do sports in real life. What got you into writing a sports romance series? And are you a big sports junkie?
I've been a sports junkie since grade school, yes, seriously, I have. I wrote a high school version of my football series when I was in high school. So you could say I've been writing these books for--well, let's just say a while.Oh that's so neat! I saw you have a bit of a herd. Are they good little helpers or do they have a bit of hellion in them? We'd love to see pictures too if you'd like to share :)
Are you referring to human kids or animal kids? I have two grandkids, and yeah, they can be a handful. Naomi is six and loves princess stuff. Xavier is two and is all boy. Then I have 2 BIG dogs, a cat, and a huge horse. So we have a pretty good menagerie at our little farm.
Alright a couple quickies before you head out...
Favorite office supply? Sticky notes
I'm completely obsessed with? My electronic toys--iPhone and iPad
Favorite man candy? I just took this pic of Brady Quinn at Seahawks training camp. Now he’s good man candy. *oh nice!*
Solid or funky patterned sheets? Solid
Strangest thing you've google searched in the name of research? Whether or not dead human bodies make good fertilizer. No joke. *LOL that's quite the google search Jami!*

Jami lives on a small farm near Puget Sound with her husband, a former Green Beret turned plumber, two dogs large enough to saddle, a prince disguised as an orange tabby cat, and an opinionated Hanoverian mare. Jami is an avid sports fan and loves football and baseball. She's been a Seahawks and Mariners fan through the good and bad times. Now that the Sonics are gone, she wishes Seattle would get an NHL team.
In her spare time, Jami rides and shows her dressage horse and grows roses. An avid boater, Jami has spent countless hours in the San Juan Islands, the setting for her first two books.
