Pride Mates (Shifters Unbound #1) by Jennifer Ashley

To most, they are animals even when in human form. They are to be collared and kept on the fringes of society, scorned because they are feared, hated for their extraordinary powers. And attorney Kim Fraser has to go right into the heart of their lair.

It's her job to defend those in need. But there's absolutely nothing defenseless about Liam Morrissey. His soft Irish lilt and feline grace can't disguise his sheer strength. Nor can the silver chain at his throat, designed to control the aggression of his kind, completely reassure her that this man has been tamed.

Yet when a feral shifter begins to stalk them both, Liam is the only one she trusts with her life. She'll let him claim her for her protection, for her pride, and for a passion that knows no bounds.

Type: Paranormal Romance, Shifters (cats, wolves)

Pride Mates was filled with hot steamy romance, a strong as fire women and a swoon worthy man, er, kitty? Add in the perfect amount of mystery and suspense and damn it was a fine read. It's an interesting take on Shifters as well with them being collared by humans then confined to Shiftertowns and having most of their rights taken away.

I really enjoyed Liam and and Kim. She's a tough cookie and really fights for what she believes in--and this time it's an innocent Shifter being set up for murder. She doesn't always make the smartest of moves but she does what she thinks is best and handles things however she can. She's also brave as all get out charging head first into Shifterville even though she's human and, well, humans and Shifters really don't mix.

And Liam is just sexy as hell. Yeah I wanted to slap him around now and again. Ooo frustrating man! But damn the sexy won out. And gotta say I love how these Shifter men think of their women. Every thing they are goes into protecting and cherishing them. Gotta love that.
Liam leaned against the Harley he'd parked at the curb in front of the firm's walkway, smiling his wicked smile.

"Morning, love," he said.

"What are you doing here?" Kim demanded.

"Looking after you, like I should."
Things get hot and heavy between them as they deal with feral Shifter attacks and Kim works to find the truth behind the case she's working and to free an innocent Shifter. I really enjoyed all of their interactions and, yeah, the steamy bits were good too.

Jennifer Ashley's kitty shifters are quickly becoming one of my go to series. While I would have liked a little more umpf towards the end with the mystery of who was behind the attacks, and, okay a little more groveling on the hero's part after he makes a glorious blunder, it was an excellent read. It's sexy, interesting, has some nice humor and absolutely amazing secondary characters which will have me coming back for more very soon.
