Wolf's Fall (Alpha Pack #6) by J.D. Tyler

Still tormented by his recent captivity, Alpha Pack commander Nick Westfall
isn’t sure he’s fit to lead—especially when he meets the one woman he can’t claim without reliving the torture he endured at the hands of a rogue vampire.

Vampire princess Calla Shaw has seen her own share of heartbreak, but she can tell that the wild attraction she and Nick feel for each other could turn into something significant—if only he’d let it. But Calla isn’t about to give up on her mate without a fight.

Time is running out, not only for Nick to claim his mate, but for Calla and her coven. A vampire war is on the horizon, one the Alpha Pack can’t hope to win if their leader can’t pull himself back from the abyss…

Oh...so...much...shiftery goodness. Tyler definitely knows how to write some sexy alpha males of the furry (or fanged) variety! This time it's the Alpha Pack Leader who's barely holding himself together and is really ready to just give up and the vampire princess who gives him hope and a new lease on life. *deep sigh* It was so very very good.

Gah but I ached for Nick. In his life he's lost his mate, his Pack, had is daughter taken from him and now after troubles his team has faced recently he feels responsible and like he's let everyone around him down and he's just...done. With everything. It was hard seeing such a strong male hit rock bottom and struggle so fiercely with himself. But he is a strong male no matter what he thinks and just a wonderful hero who has done so much good and really has the respect of those around him.

And Calla. She's lovely. Sweet and a little fiery (okay a lot fiery) when need be. Open and honest and nothing flaily about her. She's solid and understanding and just a strong woman who was exactly what Nick needed and could stand up for herself without a problem.
Now she had an angry, possessive wolf to deal with.

She frowned down at the big wolf. "I had that handled, you know." This earned her another low growl. Eyes widening, she put a hand on her hip. "Oh, no, you didn't! You did not just growl at me! You've got no claim on me yet, Cujo. Not technically. So until you do, I'll thank you not to butt into my business!"

She swore the wolf looked shocked as she whirled and headed up the path toward the wading pool.
The two together were really just perfect. They have some incredible heat between them and dayum! they're explosive together. And they really understand each other. They've both gone through the horrors of losing their mates, of facing giving up and finding something to live for again. I just loved them together and even when they had to deal with certain issues that could easily break them watching them fight through it for each other. It was just...nice and heartwarming and had me falling for them even more. I was just so happy to see them both survive what they'd been put through before finding each other.

On the action side. Sweet Mary! There was a LOT of action! It's a fast paced storyline with some make-you-gasp moments thrown in as Nick's shifter team and Calla's vampires find a common enemy that's out to destroy them all. Even though they have no clue why that could be. It was interesting and I so never guessed what the underlying reason for the bad guy was until it was revealed to them. I loved that. The ending was intense. Like. Seriously make you antsy and your palms sweat intense. It all got magically wrapped up pretty tidily in the end which was really a spot convenient but I won't even lie and act like I was upset about that. I was pretty dang thankful for that or...there might have been some book throwing. It was... a close call. So thank goodness for magic! lol

All in all, Wolf's Fall was a knock out addition to the Alpha Pack series. The romance and action fit together beautifully for a truly fabulous paranormal adventure.

Have you read JD Tyler?
Do you have a favorite werewolf/vampire pair?
Favorite para taunt? Gah but I love when Cujo is used.
