Cole's Redemption (Alpha Pack #5) by JD Tyler

"Smooth and satisfying...Cole's Redemption was a paranormal treat! Sexy, fun, emotional and just a great Shiftery read that has me excited for more." ~herding cats & burning soup
Once, they were Navy SEALS. Now they are the Alpha Pack: a top secret team of wolf shifters with Psy powers who take on the darkest dangers on Earth. But sometimes the greatest danger lies within their own hearts....

Healer and black wolf shifter Zander Cole has survived horrors that would have broken a weaker man. But when a battle leaves him deaf and his powers dimmed, Zan is devastated. Believing himself to be a burden to his team, he sees only one option: leave the Pack forever.

White wolf shifter Selene Westfall knows pain—she is certain her father was responsible for her mother’s death. And she lives to exact revenge. So when she is challenged by a savage black wolf, she puts up a vicious fight—only to become the black wolf’s Bondmate as a result of his bite.

Two damaged souls—one filled with hatred and one who’s lost his reason for living—are forced together as they come to terms with their unlikely, turbulent bond. A love neither expected may be all that stands between them and a killer trying desperately to keep the past dead and buried....

Ahhhh I've finally read JD Tyler! I'm totally smitten with her Firefighters (as Jo Davis) and have been dying to try this series and Sweet Mary. Cole's Redemption was fantastically fun! Accidental matings, betrayals, revenge and worlds being rocked. Vampires, Shifters, and interesting Psy talents. Yes. Yes, please!

The quick of it is that the Selene...is going to kill her father. He's a bastard and abandoned her and she want's him dead. But the Fates are a bitch and instead she ends up mated to one of the men in his command and her whole outlook is changed when she's forced to really look at the situation, to get to know her mate and faced with dangers as he and his teammates deal with rogue vampire attacks and threats against their group and humans.I mean. Cut a girl a break! She wants vengeance! Not...all this! ::snort::

I loved both Zan and Selene though I was totally prepared to hate her. Totally. *nods* She was...a piece of work when she arrived. Rash and angry and bitter. I just didn't see liking her ever. But...she won me over. One page at a time. And I fell for her just like Zan did. Because while she was angry and bitter she also...thought. She listened and observed and admitted that things might not be as she'd thought they were. I mean. Hell of a lot of respect for that. It's *HARD* to change the way you've been taught things were your whole life. She also kicks ass and is tender and made me smile as she reached out and opened herself up to new experiences--like having girlfriends and people looking out for her.

And Zan (Cole) was an awesome male. He's so many things I look for in a hero. He loves deeply. Is passionate. And honorable. Will do ANYTHING for those he cares about even if it means he's putting his life at risk. And the man is broken. He's been damaged physically and emotionally as he deals with his injuries and loss of hearing. Of being weaker than he's used to and feeling like a risk to his team. It was hard seeing him doubt himself and near to giving up. But I liked seeing that side of him as well. And that he needed Selene just as much as she needed him.
"I know I'm just the newbie on the block, but would it be possible for me to see Raven?"

All of Zan's protective instincts surged to the fore, and his reaction was swift. "Absolutely not."

That earned him a dangerous look. "Want to try that again, in a different tone?"

Shit. "What I mean is..."
The two were an interesting pair. They really did need each other. She needed Zan's rational outlook and encouragement to open her heart and listen. And Zan needed someone to give him a reason for living again. For fighting and coming out of his despair. There's lots of comfort and it's sweet and a little heartbreaking at the same time somehow. The steamy bits were nice. These two sure fit each other in all the ways that count! But it doesn't get too steamy. Just nicely heated :)

There were a lot of secondary characters--and I loved (and lusted) after pretty much all of them. Even starting mid series this was just such an easy paranormal read it was so comfortable stepping in and wasn't hard to catch up and know what was going on or who everyone was. I can't wait to go back and see what happened with the other couple's first meets and am dying for the next book in the series. I love when an author makes me feel that way.

The action was a great addition. A little gory and squick a girl out in descriptions now and again. Made my palms sweat and had me curious what exactly was going on and who was behind everything. It was fun and exciting and parts freaking broke my heart. And damn Tyler but she made me cry too. Twice. And it was just mean! (Yes JD Tyler I am looking at you. Page 284. Just mean! lol) But awesome too because she had me caring about this group before I even realized it.

Smooth and satisfying...Cole's Redemption was a paranormal treat! Sexy, fun, emotional and just a great Shiftery read that has me excited for more. If you enjoy easy paranormals with a little action and danger to go with the romance and lots of alpha male goodness this is a series to check out.
