Interview w/ Laura Kaye-- uh, wait, you Googled what?!

Squee! We've got Laura Kaye with us today to talk about her new sexy release, Taken by the Vampire King. Check it out and leave her some love. Oh and there's an awesome giveaway down at the bottom too!  ~Anna
Henrik Magnusson is supposed to be immortal, but a mysterious ailment leaves the vampire king near death, and not even the blood of the Proffered, human virgins trained to serve the elite, can sustain him. Then he rescues a beautiful young woman from his enemies, and is filled with blood lust and desire he hasn't felt for centuries.

Photographer Kaira Sorenson's life takes a nightmare turn when she's attacked by blood-thirsty creatures—and saved by a vampire. She should be afraid of Henrik, but she can't deny her intense attraction to this regal, enigmatic being—nor the fact that her blood may be his only salvation. Now she must decide if she's willing to be his forever…

Laura! It's so good to see you again. Come on in and get cozy. I just pulled some chocolate chip cookies out of the oven so we can snack a bit while we chat.
*nom nom nom* Thanks muchly! Me love chocolate chip cookies! And thanks for having me back!
Any time! So, huge congrats on your newest release, Taken by the Vampire King. Alright I'm totally gonna need some dish on it. Can you tell me a little about Henrick, Kaira and how the two ended up together?
Thank you! I’m so excited for this one! This story is a beauty-and-the-beast story about a dying vampire king and a human woman with a terminal illness who is determined to pursue her dreams as long as she can. I always knew one of the kings in this series was dying, and I absolutely couldn’t wait to write him! Talk about your tortured hero!
Ahh I have a weakness for those tortured heroes. *swoon* Any behind the scenes fun facts you can share about the Vampire Warrior Kings series? Think Pop-Up Video style.
Ooh fun! How about these:
  • The Vampire Warrior Kings series is set in all exotic locations. So far: County Antrim, Northern Ireland, Moscow, Russia, and Tromso, Norway.
  • The Vampire Warrior Kings was voted best series in the 2012 GraveTells Readers Choice Awards and book 2, Seduced by the Vampire King, just two weeks ago won the RWA-FF&P PRISM Award for Best Paranormal Romance Novella of 2013! *woot! congrats!!*
  • The Vampire Warrior Kings are all tattooed, and a special mating tattoo that wraps around the hero and heroine’s hands plays a role in each book.
Oh I like that. So, what makes Henrick such a swoon-worthy sexy beast of a Vampire King?
Oh, so many things! First of all, he’s dying, so he’s sympathetic right off the bat. And he’s so scared of the beast he’s likely to become on the road to death that he elicits a promise from his brother to kill him before he can become a menace to those he loves. As part of his mysterious illness, he’s also starving, which makes his feeding and sex scenes total scorchers in intensity. And these are just some of why I think you might love him! *grins*
LOL well damn yeah I might be on board with that last part. What about Kaira? She sounds like a pretty strong and resilient heroine. What was that moment that had you falling for her?
Kaira is a pretty kick-ass heroine. She’s strong in the face of her own mortality, refuses to let life knock her down despite some big reasons to just throw in the towel, holds on to her dreams til the end, and stands up to those who are stronger than she is. THE moment I most fell in love with her is when she stands up for Henrik against his warriors, despite the fact that he is nearly devoid of humanity in that moment. Fierce!
Oh yeah that is fierce! Can't wait to meet her! You had a rather unorthodox start to writing and have written a crazy number of blow your mind good books since you started just a few years back. Were you always interested in writing or did it just pop up after your injury?
As a teenager, I was very interested in fiction writing. But as an adult, my writing interests turned toward non-fiction writing as part of my work as an historian and college professor. It wasn’t until after the head injury that an absolutely insatiable creative streak took over and I found my love for fiction writing again! Now I can’t imagine living without it!
I can't imagine it either! You've written some of my favorites :) Okay, a couple silly ones and we'll let you get back to it :)

Weirdest thing in your purse right now?
A change purse made out of patterned duct tape my 9-year-old daughter made me

Strangest thing you've google searched in the name of research?
*snarf* winged penis tattoos. I dare you. *::snort:: Oh Laura, challenge accepted!* (for yall that are curious...)
Plain socks or totally wacky?
Plain or none!

Favorite Man Candy? Pictures are totally encouraged! :)

Just one??? How about a little Channing Tatum…???
Hero (not yours) you'd nibble if nibbling wouldn't get you in trouble?
Zsadist from J.R. Ward’s Lover Awakened. Oh, and I’d definitely do more than nibble. *Damn I knew I liked you! He's my favorite!*
Last thing that made you gigglesnort?
Oh, geez, I’m a certified gigglesnorter! But maybe this article that was floating around a week or two ago on this ridiculous thongless-thong contraption that was like a slap bracelet for your private parts. I was dying!
Bwaha. OMG Laura I saw that too. People. Are just. So. Weird. lol Lord love em but they really are. Well, thanks for coming by to chat with us and for the giggles! Gotta say, I'm still stuck on that winged penis tattoo bit. LOL
