Guest Post w/ Jess Michaels--challenges, big wet thank ya smooches and...courtesans?!

Hey guys! We've got Jess Michaels on the blog today for a little visit. She's chatting her new release Beautiful Distraction. Check it out and leave her some comment love! ~Anna
It has been a particularly trying day for Olivia Cranfield. Despite her impeccable manners, stylish clothing and posh accent, another protector has detected her lowborn status and rejected her out of hand.

When fellow courtesan Violet invites her to come to Bath to help with the wicked seduction of the scarred, reclusive Earl of Windbury, Olivia jumps at the offer, eager for some excitement and a change of scenery.

The moment Malcolm Graham lays eyes on the delectable woman lurking in the bathhouse alley, he knows she’s a decoy to keep him busy while her friend seduces the earl inside. For a moment, he allows her to play her game…but one touch, and all he can think about is ending the two years of self-denial he’s endured in the name of friendship.

Instant attraction quickly turns into a decidedly erotic affair that makes Olivia question all she’s ever known about passion. But when the truth behind Violet’s assignment comes to light, betrayal threatens to bring everything they’ve built crashing down around Olivia’s broken heart.

Warning: This book contains a lady lying for a good cause, a gentleman as loyal to his friends as he is passionate in the bedchamber, and a steamy affair that will change them both forever.

Hi everyone and a big thanks to Anna for having me here today. It’s basically a HUGE day for me because today my latest book is out! It’s Beautiful Distraction and is the final book in my bestselling Pleasure Wars series (Taken By the Duke, Pleasuring the Lady, Beauty and the Earl).  It’s erotic historical romance and… well, I’m pretty much stoked about it for a few reasons:

First, the book follows the same timeline as my April 15 release, Beauty and the Earl. In that my hero and heroine had two friends (Mal and Olivia) who obviously had a little something-something going on behind the scenes. Well, this is their story. That meant while I was writing it that sometimes an identical scene would happen in their book that happened in the last one, but suddenly it was in Olivia or Mal’s POV! It was such a fun challenge as a writer and one I hope fans of the whole series will also really enjoy. I’ve never done anything like it before, so I’m really looking forward to hearing reader thoughts.

Secondly, the book is only 99 cents! Yup, this very LONG novella is at a permanent price of 99 cents. I like to think of it as a big, wet thank you kiss to my extremely awesome fans who have bought my books and allowed me to make 100% of my living as a full-time writer. I love you and this one is for you.

Finally, this book contains one of my favorite types of heroines, a type you’ll see in many of my books. Olivia is a courtesan. So why do I like courtesans so much? Well, I love writing the ultra-sexy stuff (obviously) and it always makes more sense to me that a woman with a broader and more liberal view on sex would be more open to a hero’s advances. Plus, there are so many delightful barriers to her happiness. She’s fallen and in her mind, as well as the mind of many others, she can never be anything to a gentleman but a beautiful distraction (see how I did that and tied the title of the book in… You’re Welcome). But if she falls in love, if she starts imagining a life with a man, that’s a complication for them both.

Plus, Olivia is a liar. But… you’ll have to read the book to get into that.

So, what are you feelings on the courtesan heroine, the beautiful distraction? Oh and if that’s NOT your thing, never fear. The heroines of my next three books, the new series The Ladies Book of Pleasures, are all ladies. Sexy, naughty ladies. You can start that series July 15 with A Matter of Sin.
