The Gist: Life is an absolute bitch some days. Being stood up at the alter, a family crisis and finding out you now have a step mom, step sisters...who are dogs and an evil step brother intent on stealing away your inheritance? Yeah. Kimber is about done with that shit.
Matteo and Kimber. Lord love em these two are a fiery fucked up mess. They don't get off on the right foot and pretty much stay that way baiting each other and driving each other insane. lol Matteo. Gah. I wanted to fuck him up a few times because dude is an asshat. He won me over in the end but motherfucker. Whew. Sexy one. But still. Motherfucker! Kimber. Poor girl. The Universe is having a go at her but she keeps plugging along and not letting it trample her. She has some guts and spine and I loved that (nearly the whole time).
Maybe I have a type. Men Who Seem Like Catches but Are in Fact Giant Lying Pieces of Shit. This is an awful realization, like finding out Santa Claus is a lie. I wonder if I should try being a lesbian?Their romance. The series name isn't kidding. These are SLOW BURN romances since they have to get over the whole hate-you-want-you-to-die-a-thousand-deaths bit. But they have the chemistry and man once they heat things up it's steamy. And in the end just like Matteo their romance won me over, too.
“What are you thinking?”
My mouth is ahead of my brain. “About becoming a lesbian.”
Without missing a beat, Matteo says, “You’d make a terrible lesbian.”
“I think I’d make a great lesbian!”
“You like dick too much.”
My face flames with heat. “I don’t like dick any more or less than the next girl.”
His arm tightens around me. Into my ear he says in a husky murmur, “Yes, you do. You just haven’t ridden the right dick yet.”
I want to fan myself, but I’m too busy hiding my face in the pillow. I have no idea how we went from revealing painful family dynamics to riding dicks so quickly, but here we are. He punctuates his statement with a soft kiss on the nape of my neck. It sends a little tremor throughout my body, which he evidently knew it would because his chuckle is so smug I want to strangle him. “You’re an awful person.”
Ache for You won't be for everyone but really if you can hang in there and have some faith it's worth the whole train-wreck-can't-look-away thing it had going for a while. Plus there's a cute step-sibling pup.
