When I Find You (Trust No One #2) by Dixie Lee Brown

As a former Marine, Walker could find a needle in a haystack. But when he's asked by the U.S. Marshals to track down a nanny fleeing from the mafia, he's sure she'll be more trouble than she's worth. Especially after the sexy little thing clubs him and leaves him for dead. Walker's stunned by her courage—and her curves—and can't help feeling drawn to this damsel trying to dig her way out of distress. He'll find her, and when he does, it'll take more than the mafia to tear him away.

Darcy Maddox never expected to be running for her life. But when it suddenly looks like foe may become friend, Darcy's faced with a choice: Go it alone or trust a man she just met—never mind the way his touch gets her heart pounding. The choice seems simple enough until she realizes it's not just her life at stake—it's her heart.

Things really get off to a bang in When I Find You what with Darcy running for her life after witnessing her boss's murder. Girl is not having a good week at all and she's running in a flat out panic from the men after her and having a hell of a time figuring out who to trust. And that goes for the badass sexy beast of a man who says he's been sent to make sure she's safe too.

After the day she's had Darcy so isn't going to just trust anyone and she puts Walker--a former Marine that's dealing with his own demons and is there to help as a favor to a friend--through the wringer as he tries to wrangle her to safety.

Darcy and Walker were a lot of fun. There's an undeniable attraction going on but of course things are complicated and Walker keeps resisting and bumbling things up with Darcy who is a bit innocent (she had a horrible experience growing up and doesn't have much experience because of it) and she doesn't always take it...well. There's some nice tension, some teasing, some tears and some sweet moments. Steam-wise. Eh not all that steamy. Things do happen but it takes a while and it's not all that detailed when it finally does happen.
"You think I'm charming, huh?"

"In a Hannibal Lecter sort of way." She grinned and walked toward the refrigerator to see what else she could throw in the salad.

He snorted a laugh and caught her arm when she tried to go around him. Backed into the counter, he held her there with one hand on each side of her and his body pressing against hers. He kissed her ear, his warm breath sending a shiver through her.

"I could eat you up easy enough." His lips hovered above hers, then dipped down to feather a kiss across her mouth before he pushed himself back. ""Gotta check on the steaks." He threw a wink as he turned to go.
Walker. Dear Lord. Lickable? He's kinda growly, can definitely hold his own in a fight and has that whole alpha male sexy going on. He's just a good man that has some struggles and doubts about himself because of his past which really made me love him a bit more. And the poor guy seriously had his hands full with Darcy as they try to figure out the kind of hinky circumstances surrounding her boss's death. This is one chick that is not going to go down without a fight and I really liked that about her even if it did lead to some tstl moments. Kinda forgivable though because I'd so be freaking the hell out myself if I had someone trying to take me out, ya know?

What I liked about When I Find You was that nothing was really what it seemed. Yeah, you could kind of figure everything out but there was still that 'what are they up to?' kind of feeling to the suspense that made it fun to watch as everything unfold. It was a nice light suspense and a pretty quick read. Just a few hours and perfect for when you don't want anything too bogged down and heavy? I'll be reading Brown again in the future for sure.
