Audio Files-- The Quiche of Death (Agatha Raisin #1) by M.C. Beaton

I've been trying out all kinds of new audiobooks lately. My mom LOVES Beaton so I figured I'd give one of them a try. I actually streamed this from one of the Audible channels for free. Yay!

Basically Agatha has retired to a small town and is trying to get in with everyone so she enters a baking contest and...one of the judges dies from eating her quiche. Erms. Yeah. lol

I was kinda surprised this was a contemporary. lol I don't know why but I always thought these would be historicals. So color me surprised. But it was fun watching Agatha settle in, deal with the small town and not being in the city anymore and meeting new people. Watching her try to figure out if the death was an accident or...something more sinister. The end result wasn't a huge surprise but it was fun watching Agatha get there. A couple of the characters have peaked my interest and I'm curious to see how her story and theirs will intertwine as the series goes along. Agatha was quite the heroine. She's nononsense, used to being a boss, has no time for most social niceties and cutsie things. I found her rather entertaining in an off putting sort of way.

This was my first time with Penelope Keith, too! And I LOVED her narration. Tempo, characters, accents. It was delightful listening to her narrate. She made me want to listen just a little longer and had me ready to pick up book two right away.
