4 stars-- Disturbing His Peace (The Academy #3) by Tessa Bailey

Okay. So Tessa Bailey. :shivers: Love her books!

And I've been enjoying the heck out of this series that revolves around a police department and a group of recruits in training and one of their lieutenants.

Greer is a hardass, yall. And has a pretty dirty mouth. But, yall. Seriously. This one had me melting. Who could resist that?!!

I uncurl her fingers one by one and lay them flat on my chest. "You hoped I had a good day, right? I didn't. Honestly, baby, I haven't had a good one since the last time I saw you." She still doesn't say anything so I go for broke and let it all hang out. "Danika, you're..."

"What?"

"You're the best part of my days."
And a little longer one because...noms. These two both kinda find out they have some dominant/submissive tendencies. It's SO not a BDSM so no worries for yall who aren't into that. They just have inclinations of a sort and are figuring them out. She'd been planning a date with another guy and he's trying to convince her to change them.
"Do you need a little convincing?"

The way he says convincing curls fingers of heat below my belly button. It's a scrape of two knives together, and there's no way to misinterpret what kind of method he'd use to convince me to cancel my date. "H-how?" I ask anyway. "How would you try to do that?"

"Yes or no. Do you want to be convinced?" Finally, just a hint of his lips brush mine, and the answering down-low clench is so intense, I almost hit the deck. "Understand this. I'm going to do it my way, Danika. And I'm only figuring out what this way is now--with you--because I think you love it. Need it." A single blunt finger lifts and traces my right hip, moving up my rib cage and detouring toward my breasts, raking over each hard nipple slowly.

"Think you'd love some rough goddamn convincing, would you, baby? Yes or no?"

This new need he stirred to life isn't my secret. He's known. "Yes."

Without warning, he throws me over his shoulder. "Which bedroom is yours?"

It happens so fast, my thoughts are upside down, along with the room. "I-I...what?"

"Never mind, it's the one closest to the bathroom." He strides in the correct directions, steps purposeful.

A grumbly, growly, filthy mouthed hero? Yes, please!
The Gist: Sometimes you just gotta throw out the rules and be bad. Filthy bad. So's the case for by-the-book Lieutenant Greer who's done resisting and ready to have his way with one of his oh-so-tempting police recruits. Yeah. He's thrown those rules way out the door this time.
I really rather loved Greer. I have a soft spot for broken and growly. Just kinda does it for me. He's a stand up guy but a total hard ass. And Danika. She's a sassy fierce chick. She's a giver and just wants the people around her to be happy. They're both a bit of a handful but one I was very much on board with grabbing.

The two together. Lordy be! They are scorching. I love a hero who has a bit of a dirty mouth and lays it all out there and Greer. Oh good and proper Greer has one sexy mouth on him. Gives a girl some shivers! He's totally got the dominant thing going for him and, yeah, yall. Just...yeah. *fans self* It was fun watching them tap into their submissive/dominant tendencies.

I did enjoy the slight taboo of him being a police lieutenant and her being one of his new recruits in training. It wasn't too over the line and worked for me. I liked seeing them on the job and in training. Liked seeing them deal with their families and friends.

There was only one thing I wasn't totally on board with and that was towards the end. Danika screwed up, Greer reacted...and he wound up doing the big gesture with very little apology from Danika. I would have liked seeing her own up more to her part. Just getting tired of this kind of thing in romance where the heroine screws up and the hero is the one apologizing. Ah!

All in all. Sexy and sizzling! Disturbing His Peace was a deliciously dirty good time.

Danika Silva can’t stand Lt. Greer Burns. Her roommate’s older brother may be sexy as hell, but he’s also a cold, unfeeling robot. She just wants to graduate and forget about her scowling superior. But when a dangerous mistake lands Danika on probation—under Greer’s watch—she’s forced to interact with the big, hulking jerk. Call him daily to check in? Done. Ride shotgun in his cruiser every night? Done. Try not to climb into his giant, muscular lap and kiss him? Umm…

Greer doesn’t let anything—or anyone—distract him from the job. Except lately, all he can think about is Danika. He’s wanted the beautiful, cocky recruit since the moment he saw her. But she’s reckless and unpredictable, and Greer is painfully aware of what can happen when an officer doesn’t follow the rules. Probation seemed like a good idea, but now Danika’s scent is in his car and he’s replayed her voicemails twenty times. Christ, he’s a goner.

Danika’s melting Greer’s stone-cold exterior one ride-along at a time. Being together could have serious consequences… but breaking a few rules never hurt anybody, right?
