Q:What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

A: If I have to pick I'd go any of the Pride series by Shelly Laurenston. They are some of the funniest books I've ever read and I just love the characters. They're a little crazy and beyond quirky. I don't think Hollywood would be able to capture the series without making it into a way too cheesy over the top campy mess. I don't even want to think about how they'd pull of bear shifters. Too horrible to even think about! ;)

The Mane Attraction (Pride, #3)  Big Bad Beast (Pride, #6)  Bear Meets Girl (Pride, #7)

Okay. Nope. I can't stop there. I know I'm way cheating but Gack! Wouldn't want any of these either! They'd either pick the wrong actors or not get the dark mood or the humor, or use terrible accents or change important parts. Or just my favorite moments. The world wouldn't be as rich and captivating. Or the special effects would end up cheesy. Nope. If it ever happens I'm so putting on my blinders and doing the whole hands over the ears "nah nah nah nah" bit. No way to make any of them better than what's already on paper and in my head :)

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) Naked in Death (In Death, #1) Darkfever (Fever, #1) Exclusively Yours
Blood Bound (Mercedes Thompson, #2) Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) Hard Evidence (I-Team, #2) Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander, #4) What a Dragon Should Know (Dragon Kin, #3)

  4. Hopping through. I'd love to see BDB as a movie, but it would be so hard to cast it right. And keep it Rated R :-)

  7. Hello - just hopping through!

I haven't actually read any of these - but it definitely sounds like you're the sort of person who'd worry about pretty much any book you love being turned into a movie! I can totally sympathize with that one!

    Happy Friday!

  9. I haven't read many Pride books, and I haven't read any Shannon Casey, but I agree when it comes to the rest. I can't see them as GOOD movies..

  14. I'm not a fan of movies. I'd much rather be reading. It's funny how I can read for hours & hours but can't sit still long enough to watch a 2 hour movie. Anyway, I think the only movies I seen & have read the book they're based on is the Twilight saga & I was very disappointed in those movies. Well, the first 3 anyway. I haven't seen the last one yet (but I do have the DVD). And I think I've seen a couple of Sandra Brown movies that were based on books I read that were okay. I think if I see a movie that's based on a book but haven't read the book the movie would seem pretty good. But if I'd read the book the movie isn't gonna seem as good. I would really hate to see BDB made into movies. I have the Brothers pictured a certain way in my head & movies would ruin all that. Not to mention all the stuff they would have to cut out of a movie & they'd never ever be as good as the books. I've heard a few people say that the best movie from a book they had ever seen was THE GREEN MILE. I haven't read the book but I love the movie. I suppose if a movie is done right it's possible to make it as good as the book but I don't see that happening.

    1. I think that's part of it for me too. I'm not a huge fan of movies because I can't sit still for them. Don't know how I can for reading but it works for me :)

If I am going to watch them I can see the movie then read the book but not the other way around. I did like the Green Mile but haven't picked up the book for that one. Never saw the Twilight ones but I wasn't all that wowed with the books so maybe they wouldn't be too bad for me :)

I've got those Brothers pictured a certain way too. Even seeing pictures of what other people thing usually has me scrunching up my face. I don't think they'd be able to find actors that would make the fans all happy. And yeah all the stuff for most of these that would have to be cut out would be a darn shame!
