This week? Seduction in Session. Yall I have been dying for this book. Hot romance, edge of your seat suspense. What's not to love? And love it I did. I couldn't help but pick three quotes. lol So this first one. This is why I love the hero, Connor. He's chatting with one of his best friends and I was going yup, yup. With ya on that. lol....
"I don't think she's what you think she is."

"Because you've spent time with her?" He knew the answer to that one.

"No, obviously I haven't, but I'm also a way better judge of character than you are."

"I seriously doubt that."

"Dude, you pretty much just shoot everyone."

"Everyone deserves it."
One of the big things for their story is that Lara's life is in danger. Her dad is a Senator and she runs a scandal tabloid that exposes corrupt politicians and someone's found out she's behind it and, well, life in danger. Enter Connor. This just cracked me up.
The door opened and her father walked in, looking a little pale. He slid his cell phone into his pocket. "Lara, you do whatever this man tells you."

"He just said he intended to sleep with me. Should I do that?"

Connor rolled his dark eyes. "I believe I told her I wouldn't touch her in any physical way unless she begged me. Your daughter is apparently afraid that if I stay in her apartment, she'll be overcome with lust. I'm a little worried about it, too, but I think I can handle her."

"Connor." She hit him with her pillow.

"Senator Armstrong, I'm sorry. Your daughter brings out the sarcastic jerk in me. I'll keep it reined in."
Things were heating up and Lara (who didn't have great experiences in her past) was feeling a bit awkward about it all.
"If it helps, I haven't slept with anyone in almost eighteen months."

That was surprising. "Why? I mean, I just didn't think a man like you would go that long between lovers."

"Such a sweet thing. I didn't have lovers, princess. I had one-night stands and casual hookups. Those get boring after a while. That's why this is going to be different for both of us. I'm not going to let you treat sex like something you have to do to keep a boyfriend. I want you to crave it, to want me so much you can't think about going a day without my cock inside you. Now spread your legs for me."

Seduction in Session (The Perfect Gentlemen #2)

Woo! Seduction in Session. Loved it. Even if they made me want to shake em about about it was a wonderful romance tinged with danger and full of delicious heat.  Blake & Black are a dangerous duo when it comes to raising heart rates and droppin' panties. lol Their heroes are delicious!

Okay the quick of it is that one of Connor's best friends was killed in an accident he's sure was suspicious and the rest of their group of friends is trying to figure out what happened. And now the info trail has led them to a tabloid reporter they're sure knows something that will lead them to the truth. It's Connor's job to get close and find out what all she knows. His in? Someone else knows about her secret profession and her life is at risk. Who better to protect her than a CIA spook who will do anything and everything to find out what happened to his friend and protect those in his care?

Okay so these two. They're so very opposite in many ways. Connor's a realist, matter of fact, and doesn't get involved with people. Year's doing the country's dirty work have left him hard and emotionally isolated. And Lara? She's, as he put it, a psychopathic cheerleader. An idealist who always has a cause to fight and opens her arms to everyone. She's naive to say the least. Hrms. Can you guess who I had problems with? lol

Yeah. Lara and I struggled despite having some things in common. She's a vegan, loves animals, etc. But she's so damn naive and is the type that gives vegetarians/vegans a bad name--ex, forcing her dog onto a vegan diet. I just. Seriously, girl? I didn't hate her though. Amazingly! She's passionate (if misguided), trusting (to the point of danger sometimes) and tries to be a good person. I did like seeing her come around and realize some of her flaws. Connor on the other hand, I loved. He's a good guy despite thinking he's tainted by everything he's done in life. He's a realist which I can relate to. He's this scary huge alpha male but there was kindness and flexibility in him too as he dealt with all of her causes, strict opinions and her little dog

I actually really liked these two together and watching their romance unfold. They balanced each other out. She brought back some of his humanity and he grounded her. I love that. The chemistry was great between them too and while it's not what I'd call an erotic romance it's got some luscious steamy bits.

There's some real nice suspense that's almost two front. There's a treat against Lara and trying to figure out how to keep her safe while figuring out who is gunning for her but there's also the mystery of  murder in Connor's inner circle of friends. There's action and curious connections that kept me on my toes and excited about what will happen next. I do think this series should be read in order but it's not 100% necessary. Each has a complete HEA with a new couple but there's a strong underlying mystery tying all of the books together.

All in all, another win from Black & Blake. These ladies are a fierce writing duo.
Recruited into the CIA at a young age, Connor Sparks knows how dirty the world can be. Only when he’s with his friends can he find some peace. So when an anonymous journalist threatens one of the Perfect Gentlemen, Connor vows to take down the person behind the computer, by whatever means necessary—even if it means posing as his target’s bodyguard.

Publishing a tabloid revealing Washington’s most subversive scandals has earned Lara Anderson the ire of the political scene—and a slew of death threats. To keep herself from ending up a headline, Lara hires a bodyguard, a man as handsome as he is lethal.

When the bullets start to fly, Lara is surprised to find herself in Connor’s arms. But as they begin to unravel a mystery that just might bring down the White House, Lara is devastated when she discovers Connor’s true identity—and finds herself at the mercy of forces who will stop at nothing to advance their deadly agenda.
