4 stars-- Bodyguard (Under Covers #1) by Jessica Linden

A do-gooder politician, an assassination threat, a new bodyguard who will do anything to keep her new client safe. Danger, passion, stand up characters. Yes, I had a good time with Bodyguard. This is how all political romances should play out!

Alright so the gist is that Jonathan head up legislation against human trafficking and it's put him on the hit list for a trafficking group. He's sure he'll be fine and wants to continue his re-election tour but that's only going to happen if he accepts some extra security. Yep. He's getting a personal bodyguard in the form of one very tempting and determined woman.

I really enjoyed these two. Jonathan is just a good man who's trying to make the world a better place and is down to earth. He did have a couple TSTL moments (shock from a hero!) but overall he was a great character. And Abbie? Totally kick ass. She's fierce and has a take no prisoners attitude. I loved that she was the one with security and protection experience and wasn't afraid to throw herself into danger and get things done. She's got a good heart, too.
"Do you want the last cookie?" Jonathan's hand was poised over the chocolate chip cookie in question.

Abbie narrowed her eyes at him. "What if I say yes?"

A pained look crossed his face. "I'd be a gentleman and let you have it."

She laughed. No doubt he would.

"I'm stuffed. You take it."

He shoved the whole thing in his mouth.
They were fun together. Had some growly moments before coming to an understanding. Had some nice chemistry and, whew, passion. And a touch of humor as well.

A handful of assassination attempts, the hunt for the bad guys, some surprises along the way-- this was just fun little escape. It's a HFN ending and while satisfying I do hope there will be more from these two.

PS-- I usually shy away from political characters but this one, I think, was handled nicely. No snipes at the "other side", no lecture vibe. Just a guy trying to make the world a better place. *nods*

The Most Eligible Bachelor on Capitol Hill has met his match.

Abbie Whitmore is good at her job. She knows how to protect people, and she’s always right – until Congressman Jonathan Lassiter comes along. The presidential hopeful refuses to believe that his politics have put him in danger, yet Abbie’s determined to keep him safe. But how can she protect him while she’s guarding her heart?
