4 stars-- Maverick (Taggart Brothers #3) by Lisa Bingham

You need to read this series! Period. The end. Go one-click right this second! Bingham is masterful at delivering humor, heart, and seriously swoon-worthy heroes. Go get them. Go get them now! lol

Alright, yall. So, Maverick. Gosh it was fun. It's set at a shooting competition where they dress up in old fashioned clothes, have competitions, charity events, and a tent-city where all sorts of old timey items are sold. How fun! The hero, Bodey, is there for the competition. His heroine? She's working in one of the tent-stores that belongs to his friends. There's just something about the standoffish woman that sparks his curiosity and has him wondering what she's hiding...

Beth was one of those heroines that just makes your heart ache. She's struggling-- struggling to keep enough food in her belly and a roof over her head and to protect what's hers. She keeps her secrets close to the chest and tries to keep everyone at a distance. Prickly and skittish? Maybe. But she's a survivor. I just. Yall. She broke my heart, made me proud and had me wanting to wrap her up and keep her safe.
"Take the girl to lunch, Bodey Taggart. She's earned a break. And keep her off her feet for at least a couple of hours, you hear?"

"Yes, ma'am."

He waited until the woman Beth had been helping decided to come back later. Then, before Beth could be drawn into conversation with someone else, he took her hand and pulled her out the rear flap of the tent."

"Wha--"

"Helen told me to carry you off and ravish you." He heard her gasp.

"She did not!"

"I'm pretty sure that's what I heard."
And Bodey. Lordy. I did enjoy him, too. He's sexy. all alpha male, and cheeky as hell. He's an adrenaline junkie that's been sidelined due to an injury and is trying to figure out what he's going to do with his life next. He was such a great hero. I can't tell all because it'll be spoilery but, yall, I had some serious swoonage happening over Bodey. So damn good.

Their romance was really touching. It's a whirlwind romance since it's happens over the few days of the competition but it worked. It didn't feel rushed or implausible. The connection was there. The lust and passion and the caring. It was nicely done and had some good steam behind it, too!

Now. Back to these Taggart brothers. Bingham knows how to write a seriously lust-able male, that's for sure. Whew! These are the men every woman dreams of finding one day. They may be a little damaged and in need of a healing touch but these men are real men. They're strong, confident, caring. They have kind hearts and a naughty twinkle in their eyes. Are protective and let their guard down now and again. They're just amazing men and made this series very special.

All in all, Maverick hit the spot. The romance and passion, the characters, the surprises along the way, the little touch of suspense. Bingham has a winner on her hands!

Bodey has always followed his own rules: live hard, play hard, and win big. But when his wild ways give him two concussions within a month of each other, his brothers lay down some new rules: no bronco busting, sky diving, or ATVs for the rest of summer. It seems the only pastimes not restricted are shooting competitions...and women.

Beth Tivoli is new to Bodey’s circle of friends, and unlike any woman Bodey has ever met—she isn't about to follow him into bed. She’s not looking to hook up with anyone, especially when she’s trying to escape her past. Bodey quickly realizes that courting Beth is no game, and despite her resolve, they both begin to discover that maybe romance can be different this time around...
