4 stars-- Branded by Fire (Psy-Changeling #6) by Nalini Singh

Branded by Fire totally won me over. The mystery/suspense, the feisty heroine who was more than happy to give the hero hell, the alpha male who seriously had his world rocked by her and whew boy the heat. All the bits and pieces fell in line for me this time and made for a damn fun ride as Mercy and Riley battled their attraction.

Okay so the quick of it is that a young shifter has gone missing and Mercy and Riley--who are each other's equivalents in their respective Packs and drive each other insane--are assigned to track him down and get him home safe.

Riley and Mercy were fantastic. I loved so much about them and that they were equals when it came to dominance. That brought in some fun elements as they battled for control. These two can handle pretty much anything and everything thrown at them...except each other. And oh these two do not get along at all. They bicker and antagonize and tease and it was just so much fun to watch that fire and chemistry flare between them.

They're both great people that love their Packs fiercely and will do anything to keep them safe. There were some insecurities added to the mix that kept them relateable and made them pretty hard to resist. Mercy's fears that because she was such a dominant female she'd never find a true mate and Riley dealing with not always being able to protect those he loves and those alpha male tendencies to shelter their women.
"Okay," she said, "maybe you're not the spawn of Satan as I originally thought--"

"Thanks."

"But"--she glared at him for the interruption--"you'd be hell to be in a relationship with. HELL. In capital letters."
Things are very steamy between these two and kick off pretty much from the start. All that fire and tension between them was explosive. Skin time was very hot and oh so plentiful. Yum! They're both just gorgeous and sexy and tempting.

The suspense was great as well. Kept me engaged and wanting to see what would happen next. How things would connect and what new players would bring to the table. It was just exciting.

All in all, Branded by Fire was an excellent read. There were some seriously sweet and tender moments that totally had me melting over Riley and Mercy and some that, whew, made me want to give a few people a shake.  I did think it cleaned up a little too easily at the end but overall it was great and hooked me and has me ready for more. It was so nice to finally have a Psy-changeling book totally catch my attention. Woohoo!

Though DarkRiver sentinel Mercy is feeling the pressure to mate, she savagely resists when Riley Kincaid, a lieutenant from the SnowDancer pack, tries to possess her. The problem is not simply that he pushes her buttons; the problem is that he’s a wolf, she’s a cat, and they’re both used to being on top.

But when a brilliant changeling researcher is kidnapped from DarkRiver territory, Mercy and Riley must work together to track the young man—before his shadowy captors decide he’s no longer useful. Along the way, the two dominants may find that submitting to one another uncovers not just a deadly conspiracy, but a passion so raw that it’ll leave them both branded by fire…
