The Highlander's Accidental Marriage (Marriage Mart Mayhem #6) by Callie Hutton
The quick of it is that Sarah is basically on the worst trip ever. She's traveling to see her sister in Scotland and nothing has gone right. Carriage accidents, deaths, a sickly maid, broken carriage wheels and, well, accidentally hitching herself to the good Samaritan who saved her along the way. It's been a rough go and everything is a complicated confusing mess!
Sarah. I liked her to a point. Then I wanted to shake her. She's pretty resilient. She came through the trip from hell and managed to do so without losing her shit. She's an author and spirited. But lord help her. She is freaking stubborn and not all that flexible when it comes to Braeden. She caused all their trouble then handled it poorly, I thought, and came off rather bratty. I did like that she finally figured it out though. The ending was lovely and I was happy to see it all come together. There's a little heat though not too much.
I did think some scenes were a little off. There were a few deaths and the reactions to them, well, I would have been a lot more upset than the heroine.
Overall, I enjoyed The Highlander's Accidental marriage. Even with the stubborn heroine. Hutton left me curious and got me all kinds of interested in going back to meet the others couples from the series.
The Duke of Manchester's sister, Lady Sarah Lacey, always abides by the rules of etiquette. Fate, however, has no such confines. On a journey to the Scottish Highlands, Lady Sarah is set upon by misfortune-leaving her without carriage or chaperone, and left to the mercy of a kind and handsome gentleman. Whom (in order to secure a room at an inn) she announces is her husband.
When she proclaims they're married in public, Professor Braeden McKinnon can't bring himself to correct the lovely Lady Sarah. After all, her reputation would be ruined. Nor can he tell her that her proclamation is not only legally binding in Scotland, but sharing a room is considered to be an act of consummation...
Now they are bound together until death do they part-even if Sarah has no intention of becoming any man's wife

Something Like Love (Heart of the Rockies, #2)
by Sara Richardson
Well that was a fun! Richardson won me over and I'm ready for more! Something Like Love was quite the adventure as Ben spends a little time getting close to nature with the help a very reluctant guide named Paige who works for his best friend.
Loved the characters (even if I wanted to give a couple shakes), the setting (even though...nature! and, hello, that freaks me out!) and the romance as the hero tries to up his curb appeal (he's a politician) with the public by going on a back-to-nature adventure after a bit of a scandal happens.
I really enjoyed both of the characters. They've got a little past together which made things more interesting (and fiery) and are both kinda on their last chance at saving their career paths. Ben was sexy and fun. Paige and little forceful and intense. Things were high on sexual tension with just a little bit of actual heat happening which still worked especially given their situation.
Add in lots of family drama, some secondary characters that caught my eye and a little make-your-palms-sweat action and it was just an overall good time. My only little eh was that the author made a point to give Ben a political party and that always kinda bugs me. I'd rather not have the characters put in the whole democrat vs republican kind of thing. Just leave it vague. Small complaint though.
Ben Noble needs to do some damage control. Fast. His heart has always been in ranching, but there's no escaping the spotlight on his high-powered political family. Now the only thing that can restore his reputation is a getaway to the fresh air of Aspen, Colorado. Not to mention that the trip gives Ben a second chance to impress a certain gorgeous mountain guide. But Paige Harper is nothing like the shy girl he remembers . . . she's so much more.Paige is serious about Ben, too: seriously annoyed that the playboy cowboy is using her mountain for his PR. Once upon a time, she fell for Ben's aw-shucks charm, but the fairy tale didn't end happily. Paige doesn't intend to let down her guard again. But keeping their relationship all business and no pleasure may be harder than she thinks-especially if the moonlight, the Rockies, and a certain irresistible rancher have anything to say about it...
