My Little Corner of the World (A to Z)

Now, I just LOVE my home. A couple years back I decided it was time to make it my own and create a place that makes me happy.

I think it suits me even if makes my mom's eye twitch a little.

I like stuff and I LOVE color. Things a little unexpected and bold. A little random, sure. Thought I'd take yall on a little tour :)

One of my favorite places is the kitchen. A funky backsplash, new cabinets, counters and a glammed up the fridge. There's also an awesome island made out of a dresser with the back decoupaged with wrapping paper!

The living room had this completely useless wall by the back door and it got a totally funky transformation into a bit of art using 1949/50 yearbook pages from my college to do a little decoupage.

The guest room went through 5 colors before finally landing with half the walls a dark purple and half of them are green. I also went really dark in there with a wall of black bookcases, black/white bedding and curtains and a black rug. It's the perfect spot for a little reading!
The stairs are still a work in progress but here's a little sneak peak.  The black/white patterns are decoupaged paper napkins. The steps all got a
bit of paint and the wainscoting is goes up the stairs and around the landing. The handrails are done
a black/white pattern too.

The outside hasn't escaped me either. Much to my neighbors dismay. Flamingos, a mix matched deck and a gypsy pink mailbox.

The mailbox is actually pretty cool.
The rocks were brought up from my grandparents home last year. Back when my mom was growing up my granddad searched the woods for them to create his rose beds. When one of the beds had to be taken apart I got the rocks :)
This was right after it was planted. It looks much better all grown in.

My bedroom's probably the most "normal" spot in the house. A moss green with golds and reds. But still a nice place to spend a little time.

Then there's the craft room. It's quite the color. The half bath is the same color and for months after my grandmom's first visit I kept getting little gifties in the mail. "oh don't you think this would look wonderful in the guest bath?" After the 3rd item I finally asked why always the bathroom? "I thought it would be nice to cover a little bit of the wall color up". Ah how I love my family ;)

Even the laundry closet got a good dose of color. It's a bit more orange than I was going for. I do believe the delivery guys said it looked like a pumpkin threw up in there. But it grows on ya :)

So there's my house. It's still got a ways to go before I'm done with it but I'm loving it so far.

  3. I love it!! What you did with the stairs is very very cool. I painted my last bathroom the same as your laundry room. Whenever I described it to anyone they sort of cringed, especially my mom, but after they saw it they loved it. My sons bedroom is the same puple as your guest room, great minds think alike!!

I think you have shown exactly who you are by the way you have made your house your home!

    1. Thanks :) Oh yeah my mom does a bunch of cringing over the house. Even in person. She's a white walled/simple decoration kinda person.

You're son is awesome! I love that color more and more each day. Not too many people out there willing to give it a chance!
