The Gist: When women start disappearing in her home town Charlie is hell bent on finding them before they're lost to human trafficking. She knows the danger first hand and can't sit by and do nothing. If she has to work with her oh-so-irritating teammate Vince and infiltrate a sex club? So be it!
"Come out and let me see."Oh, Vince! Yall, I loved Vince. He's all sexy alpha yumminess with a mile wide protective streak and a wicked gleam in his eye. He's a total mansicle. You just wanna lick him all over.
"I'm not letting anyone fucking see me in this goddamned getup. They're uncomfortable. They're fucking tight. And we're in fucking Miami. I'm going to sweat my fucking ass off and then I'll need to be cut the fuck out of them."
"That's a lot of fucking happening-- which I suppose is pretty apropos, considering where we're going tonight." The humor in her voice was impossible to miss.
"Glad you find this funny," Vince grumbled. "But you don't see these goddamned pants."
"No, because you're refusing to come out like some kind of prima donna. I'm giving you fair warning, Navy. If you don't come out. I'm coming in."
"I have the door locked."
"And you think that's going to stop me?" She let out an evil chuckle.
And Charlie. She's fierce and a bit of a badass but I did struggle with some aspects of her personality that I found hypocritical. She'd want utter trust from her team but would hide info or go off half-cocked instead of working as a team. And she had a tendency to pull the woman card and cry sexism when...it really wasn't. I liked probably 85% of her so overall not bad.
Now these two together. They definitely have the chemistry. Woo! They've been dancing around each other for a year trading barbs and insults and annoying the everlivingfuck out of one another. And now they're forced to work as a team and of course all that fiery tension needs an outlet and thank goodness they opt for the naked fun route.
The suspense kept me guessing and turned out a good bit different than I expected. There's some close calls that had me sweating as they tracked down the missing girls, too.
All in all, Alpha Security has turned into one damn fine series. Hunt is quickly making a name for herself in the romantic-suspense genre. I can't wait to see what she does next.
