So. The Flirtation. Totally flirty and sexy. I really liked the hero in this one. And that it touched on some bdsm issues like trust and when it's broken.
Anywho. Two quotes today...
So. The heroine messed up pretty dang bad. I had a good laugh over her owning up to it.
And this. While there are some pretty serious moments there are also some sexy fun ones. I love that she brings some playfulness into the sexy bits."I came to say I'm sorry. I thought about making you a card," she said. "But decided that probably wouldn't be a good idea.""A card?"
"Yes, I'd put on it "I'm sorry I acted like an ass. Will you spank mine?'"He couldn't help it; her answer was so unexpected, he laughed and laughed until his chest hurt. "Come in." He held the door open for her.
She gave a pout, but continued dancing, almost grazing his crotch. Dammit. His fingers itched with the need to touch her."And if you insist on pouting like a bratty toddler, I'll keep my hands to myself all night."Her eyes sparkled with mischief. "You can keep your hands to yourself, Sir, as long as you share the other parts."He couldn't help it; he snorted at her response.---"The other parts?" he asked. "What other parts would that be? I believe I need specifics.""Your cock, Sir."---He flashed her a grin and, before she could guess his intention, grabbed her by the waist and pulled her down on top of him. She yelped in surprise and he bit her earlobe."This cock?" He thrust his hips up, making sure he came into contact with her clit.
"Oh shit. Yes, Sir." She ground her hips against his covered erection. "That's the one I was talking about."
Yay! Tara Sue Me! This lady can write some steamy good times! I've really loved the Submissive series. Sexy, passionate and full of delicious naughty fun. The Flirtation?..every bit of that.
The Gist: A while back Lynne and Simon had the startings of thing but then Simon suddenly bailed. He might have gotten a little scared. And neither ever really got over what they'd had. And now they're suddenly on each other's radar again, and, well, a flirtation starts up and leads to a whole lot more as they finally realize that, yes, their kinks? Totally rub along together nicely.
The Rave!
Lynne and Simon were great characters. I love second chance romances so I was on board right from the start. And these two had real nice chemistry. They were both easy to like and fun to spend time with.
It was nice seeing them get into their kinks, too, and figure that all out. He's a sadist, she's somewhat new to BDSM and figuring out where she lies on the spectrum. There were some super hot scenes in person and via the internet which was a real good time. Goodness, yeah. The heat in this one. Woo!
Something Tara Sue Me did that had me a little nervous was a trust issue. The heroine did something that was a HUGE no no in BDSM since trust is paramount in this type of relationship. I was getting a bit upset with the heroine on that but I will say that I liked how it was handled in the end. It wasn't just brushed off like it was noting and was dealt with and addressed. Nice to see that!

The Gripe:
I did have one issue. Out of a 365 page book only 259 was actual new story. Which...really took me off guard. The book cover/blurb didn't say anything about it but there's a 'bonus' novella (previously released) included that makes up that extra 100+ pages. Which was really disappointing. Especially at the price of 9.99 for ebook and $16 for print. That's a very short story for that price.
The story felt like it needed more, too. Part of why I was so taken back by it ending so quickly. I really thought they had a good chunk of pages left to show them falling in love and adjusting after the 'big issue' only to realize the book was actually ending. A couple more chapters would have been nice.Overall, though. I enjoyed The Flirtation. I loved the couple, their journey and the steamy romance and I just really enjoy Tara Sue Me's storytelling.
Lynne has not wanted for anything since she began working as Nathaniel and Abby's nanny--until the night they invite her to a group BDSM meeting. The abrupt breakup she had with her last Dom made her turn her back on the lifestyle, but now she's ready to dive back in. When she starts chatting on online BDSM message boards, she's shocked to discover Simon, her former Dom, is a frequent poster--and even more shocked at herself when she creates a secret identity and strikes up a conversation.
After messaging with a mysterious submissive online, Simon forms an immediate connection. Lynne and Simon's D/s relationship grows in intensity, but can their relationship survive after the truth is exposed, and Lynne's identity is laid bare?
