A couple really quick reviews for today! Both of these were freebies and ones I read a couple years back but just haven't published the reviews. I suck. I know. lol They were both fun tastes of the series they kick off and the authors-- both of which were new to me at the time. A little BDSM with EM Gayle's Roped and some Russian alpha male with Ivan by Roxy Rivera :DRoped (Purgatory Club #1) by EM Gayle
Roped was a sexy little short story coming in at around 40 pages. The heroine, Katie, is a plus-sized girl who's been hanging out at a BDSM club for the last few weeks but so far hasn't ventured into playing with anyone. She just watches and longs for two of the rope masters--Leo and Quinn-- who have been giving her space until she's ready. It's basically one scene of the three hooking up and doing a little yummy bondage. The scene was steamy, the guys were deliciously dominant and Katie very easy to like and relate to.
And then there was a plot twist that left me pretty annoyed [Highlight: Turned out it was just a fantasy of her watching other people and wishing it was them. Gah! And it ends with them noticing her for the first time. I was so annoyed! So no HEA but a set up for it happening for real] If it hadn't gone that way it easily would have been a 4star. I liked the writing and how easily she pulled me into the relationship. I'll give Gayle another read for sure but will definitely check reviews before deciding which one to pick up.
Katie has a desire for rope and she’s had her eye on riggers Leo and Quinn for quite some time. Week after week she goes to the club and watches them tie up women from afar, while she imagines their rough rope against her own skin.
Now the two hunky men have decided to make their move. But is plus-sized Katie ready to turn her fantasies into reality?
Ivan was a decent novella and a nice taste of the series to come. Erin is pretty much at the end of her rope. Her sister has gotten involved in their city's seedy underbelly and gone missing. In a last ditch effort Erin goes to Ivan for help. He's...kind of a bad guy but not really? lol He's Russian, dangerous and has a shady past and he's her only hope. Ahhh a fun set up, right? lol
And it was a good one. I liked both Ivan and Erin. There's nice chemistry between them and things get down right steamy as he takes her under his protection. I enjoyed the search for her sister, the family drama and danger that comes into the picture. My only real complaint was that it could have used a bit more editing. There were spots that just weren't quite right and had me stumbling. I'd recommend it, though, if you're looking for a quick read that's a little different and very easy to fall into. I'll be continuing on with the series at some point.
