#AFTH2015 w/ Debbie Mason--the Naughty list ala Christmas, Colorado

Today's guest is Debbie Mason and yall she just writes lovely romances. They aren't always easy or smooth sailing but they're wonderful and she writes the best damn heroines! Yall know I'm hard on heroines but Debbie's...they're some of my absolute favorites. Amazing women who are strong, likable and you totally end up wanting to be friends with. Love that! Christmas, Colorado--where her books are set--is just an interesting little town and one I'm so glad I found.

Yall check out Debbie's post and leave her some comment love :) ~anna

Hi everyone! I’m Debbie Mason, and I write contemporary romance set in the small town of Christmas, Colorado. So I guess it's no surprise that I LOVE . . . Nell, what are you doing here?
Where else would I be? I made up the list, not you. Scootch over. Hi y'all, thanks for having us. I'm Debbie's writing partner, Nell McBride. I have to get this list off to Santa before it's too late, so let's get started.

1. Grayson Alexander

Debbie: Nell, Grayson's an FBI Agent and a hero. He doesn't belong on the naughty list.
Nell: *shrugs* He pretended he was a British lord.

Debbie: Well, I think he's very, very nice.
Nell: *rolls eyes* You're shallow.

2. Cat O'Connor

Debbie: There's no way Cat should be on your naughty list. She's the nicest person I know. Maybe too nice, actually.
Nell: She ruined the ending of their story. The least she could have done is gotten engaged to Grayson.

Me: They'd only known each other a month!
Nell: *shrugs*

3. Calder Dane

Debbie: Okay, I'll give you Cat and Grayson, but you can't put Santa on your list.
Nell: You're getting as bad as the rest of them. He's not really Santa, he just looks like him.

Debbie: It's because you're jealous he invited Dame Alexander to ride on his sleigh in the parade, isn't it? Admit it, you're still in love with him.
Nell: *snorts* I'm not in love--

Debbie: You do remember that I'm writing the ending for Happy Ever After in Christmas right now, don't you?
Nell: *crickets*

4. Vivi and Chance McBride

Debbie: Color me shocked. Vivi and Chance are your favorite couple, how did they end up on the list?
Nell: *looks around* Keep your voice down, someone will hear you. And you know darn well why they ended up on the list. They eloped. We could have had a Christmas wedding.

Debbie: But you said their other secret was the best Christmas present ever.
Nell: *grins* That's why they're only number 4.

5. Debbie Mason

Debbie: Hey, why am I on your naughty list?
Nell: Creative license. You took too much of it. Readers actually liked Dame Alexander. You gave the woman too much page time. You're a suck up.

Debbie: I'm not a suck up.
Nell: *raises eyebrows* Hallmark movie ring a bell?

Debbie: All she said was she knew someone in production. She wasn't trying to . . . Fine, whose up next?

6. Ted and Fred

Debbie: Really, you put your best friends of sixty years on the list?
Nell: They're as bad as you. They spent the entire time kissing up to her royal highnass.

7. Fluffy

Debbie: What did Fluffy do to end up on your list?
Nell: I don't like cats.

Debbie: *whispers* Nell, you can't say that. The name of the blog is Herding Cats and Burning Soup. They love cats. It's because Fluffy belongs to Dame Alexander, isn't it?
Nell: Please, the cat had no say in who its owner is. Fluffy's on the list because she destroyed the Christmas tree in the town square.

Debbie: It wasn't Fluffy's fault. She was electrocuted!
Nell: Not buying it. It was an act. That cat's as dramatic as her owner.

8. Dame Estelle Alexander

Debbie: No surprise to see Dame Alexander on your list, I guess. You've been jealous of the woman from the moment she arrived in Christmas.
Nell: Please, I have nothing to be jealous of. Her royal highnass is on the list because she tried to split up Cat and Grayson.

Debbie: Tell that to someone who doesn't know you so well.
Nell: Careful or I'll stop feeding you intel from Christmas.

9. Villain(s)

Debbie: Okay, so I get why they're on your list, but shouldn't they be the naughtiest?
Nell: Look down.

Debbie: Oh. Chloe was pretty bad . . . but the naughtiest? I think you should switch them around.
Nell: No can do. I polled readers and they agreed with me.

10. Chloe O'Connor

Debbie: Umhm. And none of those readers thought you should be on the list?
Nell: Not a one.

Debbie: They will once they read Chloe and Easton's book, Kiss Me in Christmas.
Nell: I wasn't that bad.

Debbie: Ha! We'll see about that. I'm going to post a snippet from Kiss Me in Christmas right now and see what readers think.
Nell: I gotta go fix my Christmas lights.
Debbie: Sure you do. Okay, ladies, here's just one of the stunts Nell pulled in Chloe and Easton's book. Of course Nell was behind the drama that played out at Diva, Ty's beauty salon, not Holly.
"Pushing herself upright, Chloe removed the towel from her face and called out to Ty, who was at the workstation to Chloe’s right, blow-drying her mother’s hair. “I think I’m done, Ty.”
He glanced her way, then did a double-take and dropped the brush. Her hands went to her face. “What’s wrong?”
Estelle sat up and removed her towel. Chloe took one look at the older woman’s beet-red face and released a horrified yelp. Estelle looked at Chloe and did the same.
“Mirror, I need a mirror,” Chloe said, flapping her hands in front of her face. She felt faint.
“No, no mirror.” Ty said as he hurried to her side. He reached for a container on the shelf behind the sink, unscrewed the cap, and sniffed. “Holly, which treatment did you use on Chloe and Estelle?”
Chloe’s nemesis from high school twisted her hands. “I-I thought you wanted me to use the red one.”
“No, I told you to use the gold jar. The red jar is an intensive peel that—”
“Burns the skin!” Chloe shrieked.
Her mother and sister rushed to her side. Instead of telling Chloe to calm down like she expected them to, they stared down Holly. Estelle turned to add her glare to theirs, and her towel slipped off her head. Chloe gasped. “Y-your hair is...red!”
Estelle collapsed in the chair.
“Water, get her some water,” Chloe cried, and then brought a trembling hand to her own head. She pointed to the towel and whimpered. “Kit Kat, take it off.” Her sister did as she asked and grimaced. “Is it red?” Chloe whispered.
“No.”Relieved, Chloe sagged in the chair.“It’s purple.”~Kiss Me in Christmas
So what do you think, should Nell be on the naughty or nice list?
