Bled Dry is the story of Brittany and Corbin who are just adorable and have found themselves rather knocked up since apparently vampire sperm...is good to go!
Brittany was a nice surprise. She's really matured as a character since the beginning of the series. Taking charge of her life and standing up to the people that tend to boss her around. While I liked her character I loved Corbin who is an outcast French Vampire. He's a bit old fashioned and socially awkward, formal, totally panicky about having a baby and so freaking cute taking baby boot camp classes and shopping for their baby. He's even cute when he gets riled up or concentrates too hard and slips into a fantastically cheesy French accent.
Corbin wanted, quite simply, to die.Things are a bit bumpy for Brittany and Corbin. Because of the baby's genetics he's in danger of being experimented on by other vamps so a lot of their time is spent apart to keep others from finding out who the father was. But the romance was wonderful and sweet and totally worked.
He had wished for death many times over his long lifespan, but never as fervently as he did while Beth Adams rattled off breastfeeding statistics, her baby sucking industriously, mouth fully around the entire areola, as Sam was quick to point out, finger outlining the area in question. Corbin was speechless.
Raising his eyebrows up and down, he shot a grin at her before refocusing on the road. "I do not have designs on your person, ma cherie. I have already had that delight once tonight. But I am not ready to part from you. Does that make sense to you? I would just like you near me."See? Total girly aws where Corbin is concerned.
Things were pretty predictable where the villain was concerned and the part he played in Brittany's life. It didn't really take away from the enjoyment of the story but you could see it coming from a mile off.
All of the books in the Vegas Vampire series are just a fun way to spend a few hours and Bled Dry was no exception. It made me smile, laugh, had me rolling my eyes from time to time (though in a fun way) and sighing in pleasure the rest of the time. If you like the glitz of the Vegas Strip and your vamps with a side of cheeky humor it's a great choice.
Hooking up with a vampire has its risks-but getting pregnant usually isn't one of them. Tell that to Brittany Baldizzi, who finds herself in the family way with no father in sight. After their one night of passion, vampire Corbin Jean Michel disappeared off the face of the earth-or at least off the Vegas strip.
Corbin is a vampire with a cause, secretly trying to find a cure for his condition. But when he finds out Brittany is pregnant with his child, Corbin can't keep his paternal instincts from trumping his bloodsucking ones. Even when showing his hand could cost him the woman he can't help but love.
