Various States of Undress: Virginia (Various States of Undress) by Laura Simcox

If she had it her way, Virginia Fulton—daughter of the President of the United States—would spend more time dancing in Manhattan's nightclubs than working in its skyscrapers. Tired of dodging paparazzi, she needs a change. And a real chance. So when she finds herself in the arms of sexy, persuasive Dexter Cameron, who presents her with the opportunity of a lifetime, Virginia sees it as a sign … but can she take it without losing her heart?

CEO-to-be Dexter Cameron knows he's taking a risk by hiring a stylish party girl to jumpstart his family's legacy department store. But the president's gorgeous daughter has her thumb on the pulse of Manhattan, and the partnership seems like a win-win … until Dex discovers that his goals now include more than securing the corner office—they include Virginia herself. Dex must decide: does he make a move up the ladder? Or on the girl of his dreams?

Flirty and fun with a side of romance. Various States of Undress: Virginia was a delightful read that left me smiling and put a cheery little kick in my step as media disaster and life of the party Virginia sets up shop with future CEO Dex to revamp his grandmother's department store and bring it back to it's previous glory. Of course it wasn't as easy as all that what with back stabbing family members, stuck in their ways employees and, well, having to deal with the media and Secret Service since Virginia's daddy was the President of the United States. But it made for one hell of a ride.

These two were pretty cute together. You could tell they just...enjoyed being around each other. They'd flub up now and again but the spark and chemistry was there and they made their relationship--no matter how unlikely--work. They made each other better people too. It was really lovely seeing them each transform as the book went along. Figuring out what was really important to them, growing up, having a little fun. They were just cute. And could bring some serious heat too. Oh, whew. Yeah. Nothing too wild but just that energy about them was brought into the bedroom too and was pretty nice. They were great people as well and ones I felt for as they tried to make their own way, break away from expectations and figure life out.
{Okay this is right before they head out to a big grand opening event and, well, the man has a bit of a problem with women's clothing...}

"Mmm," he responded, his sexy mouth headed for the crook of her neck. She couldn't let him kiss her there--she'd be a melted puddle on the dressing room floor within seconds. "Back off." She pushed at him and heard a ripping noise. "Oh shit," she muttered, sweeping her hair out of the way to look in the three-way mirror. "Shit!" The delicate chiffon overlay on the bodice of her dress was torn across her back and down her side, separated from the zipper, and caught in his cuff link. She met Dex's eyes in the mirror.

"You seem to have a problem with snagging yourself on ladies clothing, Dex. First that giant bra and now my dress. Can you explain it?"

"No. You sound unnaturally calm. Is this the part right before you go ballistic?" he asked.

"No," she answered, "This is the part where I tell you I have nothing else to wear."

Carefully, he detached his cuff link from her dress and took a step back, peering down at her side. "We...can't fix it?"

"Do you have a magic wand down those tight pants?" She narrowed her eyes. "Don't answer that."

Wisely, he shook his head. "I won't."
The storyline was really fun as well. I love the rehabbing of old buildings and seeing historical sites brought back to life. So that was entertaining watching Lilah's (the department store they were working on)  go from neglected frumpyness to thriving and quirky again. And the employees go through a bit of change as well. It really turned into a fabulous place.

All in all, Virginia and Dex's adventure was cheeky, charming and completely endearing. It's one that would be perfect for an afternoon in where you just need light, sexy and pure entertainment with a hefty dose of sigh worthy romance.
