Oh my. There's enemies to lovers romances and then..,there's Brynn and Will. *sucks in a breath* Sweet Mary. These two childhood nemesis took it to a level all their own as Will comes back into Brynn's life--he's her sister's best friend--after being away for few years and the two, well, they pick up right where they left off...battling each other, snarking and throwing barbs with a passion. And thank god! Because watching these two fall for each other and those passions flare was such a treat!
The quick of it is that Brynn and Will's first meet when they were kids went less than fabulously-- leaving a girl with hurt feelings and a boy completely smitten and determined to get her attention any way he could--and ever since they've turned frustrating each other into an art form. But that boy is ready to change the game and finally get his girl.
Will was looking up at her with a cocked eyebrow. "Oh, I'm sorry, Ms. Dalton. Here I thought you wanted me to help you out."Will...he's the perfect example of men not having a damn clue what to do with themselves. lol What do you do when you like a girl? Pull her pigtails of course! Want to get on her radar again? Oh, you know. Give her a flat tire so she has to come next door for a spot of help. ::snort:: That's pretty much been his game plan the whole time he's known Brynn. Poor lug. I really kind of adored him even if he could be a total putz and just couldn't figure out how to just talk to "his" woman.

"Right," she grumbled. "Sorry. Please commence with the man-moves."
He snorted at her grudging apology, but returned to swapping out her tires.
And Brynn. Girlie's having a wee bit of a midlife crisis and ready to shake up her boring life and do something different. Namely...Will. Heh.Yep. She's in need of a little fling to give her life a bit of a kick. I really felt for Brynn overall even if she could frustrate me. She was bullied something fierce growing up and it really shaped her self image terribly. Despite success as an adult inside she's still that little girl crying in the corner who's scared of letting people close because they'll only use it to hurt her. It wasn't always easy watching her try to let go of both the past and the sterile life she created to protect herself and gah she made me want to just hug her sometimes. And I'm so not a hug-er.
I really liked both Will and Brynn...aaaaaand wanted to shake em at the same time. The two definitely have some chemistry. It's not always good chemistry but yeah there's fire and sparks galore happening. They know each other well enough they can really do some damage but sometimes it was just so dang entertaining even if utterly cringe-worthy sometimes. Things do get steamy and there's some good loving happening once they start up their fling. There's a couple scenes that just gripped my heart they were so tender and the two so easily broken.
I did have a couple little quibbles. Some with formatting that could have been due to it being an eARC--flashback scenes that weren't always easily identified as flashbacks and some flashback scenes that happened in the previous book. Important scenes but since I'd read that recently it was just wasted pages for me. And some lack of condom use or at least mention of them. I just...totally squicks me out especially when there's mention of being sexually active before they got together. ::shudder::
Other than a couple small quibbles though I really had a great time with Made for You. It's full of passion and fire and characters that no matter their, erm, colorful encounters are snarkily wonderful and just perfect for one another. Layne is definitely one who knows how to create a fun romance and keep a girl entertained.
Have you read Layne? What did you think?

Annnd a little fun from Layne...
5 Perfectly Imperfect Things about Brynn and Will
1. Brynn likes Brie cheese on her sandwiches. I mean … what the?! I like Brie. I like sandwiches. Together? PASS. But Brynn enjoys. Whatever.
2. Both of Brynn and Will “knock” the rhythm of Jingle Bells on each other’s front door at different points in the story. This stems from a strange childhood quirk of mine in which I would always try to “hear” Jingle Bells from the back seat in the rhythm of my mom’s blinker when we were stopped at a stop light.
3. She lets him tattoo her. Silly SILLY woman. But it’s romantic, I PROMISE.
4. I mention in the book that Brynn likes “nuded” colored shoes. She also likes “nude” colored undergarments, because um, hello?! Practical!
5, Of all my books, Brynn is most like me, and Will is most like my husband. So when I read a review where people don’t like her? GO AHEAD AND SLAP ME ;)
